At digiLab, we are passionate about nurturing the next generation of AI and Machine Learning professionals by equipping young talent with the skills, experience, and development opportunities they need to thrive in the industry. In September 2024, we welcomed a new group of talented individuals who, in just a few months, have already made a significant impact on our business. By investing in their development, we are also shaping the future of digiLab.

We provide a unique blend of structured training, hands-on experience, and mentorship from industry experts. Our approach ensures that our graduates gain real-world, business-critical experience, allowing them to contribute meaningfully while expanding their professional capabilities. Below, you can learn more about our outstanding team members and their journeys at digiLab so far.

Meet Tasmiya - Marketing Graduate

Tasmiya joined digiLab as a Marketing Graduate and holds a BSc in Politics and International Relations from the University of Manchester. Working closely with our Marketing Manager, she has played a key role in elevating the digiLab brand, driving engagement, and ensuring our marketing efforts make an impact. From content creation to event branding, she has embraced every challenge with enthusiasm and creativity.

Q: What opportunities to develop your skills have you had since starting at digiLab?

A: digiLab has supported my development, offering to invest in external training courses to strengthen key skills, which has been really interesting, I have been on a training course for ‘Writing Skills for Press Release’ which was a full day training course on how to structure press releases and effectively report company news better. I have also completed two LinkedIn workshops on how to optimise the LinkedIn algorithm and boost our engagement. We also have weekly in-house internal symposiums where I gain more technical knowledge about different areas within AI. This is very interesting for non-technical people such as myself to learn about AI.

Q: What has been your favorite project/conference?

A: I was involved in the UKAEA Partnership video which was very exciting and a first for me. I was also allowed to grow and venture into new avenues such as designing event booths and banners as well as designing t-shirts and business cards. It allowed me to develop my design skills.

Q: How has your role developed and what responsibilities have you taken on?

A: My role is continually developing at digiLab and tasked with more responsibilities. Some of these include managing digiLab social channels, mainly Linkedin but I also manage youtube and X. I write regular press releases about company news such as new partnerships and any other exciting updates. I am also tasked with creative design tasks such as designing report templates, presentation templates and social media posts.

Meet James - Business Development Graduate

James joined digiLab as a Business Development Graduate after initially impressing us during an internship. Holding a BSc in Economics from the University of Exeter, he quickly demonstrated his potential and was soon brought on board as a full-time graduate. Working closely with our Head of Business Development, James plays a key role in expanding digiLab’s market presence, driving sales, and fostering strategic partnerships. His keen analytical skills and proactive approach have already helped to shape the future growth of digiLab.

Q: What opportunities to develop your skills have you had since starting at digiLab?

A: Everyday I am given the opportunity to learn and develop from my colleagues at digiLab. This includes learning about the frontend, backend, marketing, strategy, fundraising, grant writing, finance and even office furniture construction!

Q:What has been your favorite project/conference?

A: I really enjoyed going to the binding.energy conference in Germany where I was directly interacting with clients in both a formal and informal setting, attending talks from world leading Fusion researchers and getting to explore Aachen. I also really enjoyed going to Culham and getting to see a Fusion Reactor!

Q: How has your role developed and what responsibilities have you taken on?

A: My role hasn't 'developed' (this is a good thing) because from day one I was included and given responsibility. As the business grows, I am growing with it and picking up responsibilities such as working with clients. Interestingly, binding.energy was a conference I found from researching key events that digiLab should be attending. Being able to present an idea and then have the team follow through and act on my research is a great feeling, and makes me feel like I am really making a difference.

Meet Becca - Research & Development Graduate

Becca joined digiLab as an R&D Graduate after completing her MEng in Engineering Design from the University of Bristol. She works closely with our Lead Engineer and Product Team, playing a crucial role in enhancing the frontend and UI/UX design of our product. With a keen eye for detail and a passion for user experience, Becca has made valuable contributions that improve both functionality and usability—always approaching challenges with enthusiasm and a smile.

Q: What opportunities to develop your skills have you had since starting at digiLab?

A: I came from an engineering design background but have been able to expand my skill set in UI/UX design and frontend development. I have gained experience in designing software with a focus on user experience, learned to use tools like Figma for creating designs and user journeys, learned new languages, including React and TypeScript and contributed to the product development from a frontend and design perspective.

Q:What has been your favorite project/conference?

A: I have really enjoyed designing a new node style and implementing it into the code - it’s fun seeing a design come to life in the product! I have also enjoyed aligning the Uncertainty Engine design with the brand's visual style, this was also very satisfying.

Q: How has your role developed and what responsibilities have you taken on?

A: My role started by contributing small features to the codebase and then evolved to designing features based on design briefs and implementing them through code. I have gained more creative freedom in the design process and I am taking increasing ownership of both design and implementation of new features.
