digiLab attend the UKAEA 2024 FARSCAPE workshop
This week, our new Fusion Team of Ross Allen and Cyd Cowley, together with Head of Business Development Amanda Niedfeldt and CEO Professor Tim Dodwell, attended the UK Atomic Energy Authority 2024 FARSCAPE workshop.
FARSCAPE (which stands for Fusion Applications Research into Scalable Computing Algorithms for Performance at the Exascale) is a multi-million pound programme leveraging advanced computing technology for fusion. Its aim is to develop technology and software to simulate fusion power plant systems, and in doing so, reduce the need for a real-world, test-based design approach to engineering. The programme - which has been active for three years - is a collaborative effort between the UKAEA, the Science and Technology Facilities Council, and digiLab.
During the workshop, we demonstrated our large language model for accessing fusion information. We also discussed ongoing and future projects in the programme from simulating plasma turbulence to providing uncertainty quantification for engineering systems.
